It is one of the most commonly used materials for flat roofs because of its easy installation. EPDM is available in white or black and typically lasts for 10 to 15 years in average conditions. Modified Rubber - Modified rubber roofing material is commonly called modified bitumen, modified asphalt or modbit. It is made from a blend of asphalt and other materials to give it a rubber-like quality. It is available in more colors and varieties than EPDM and is usually more affordable. TPO - TPO roofing (thermoplastic polyolefin) is made from vinyl or PVC. Unlike its rubber counterparts, TPO material is more reflective and smooth. These qualities provide a cooler roof, greater energy efficiency, and a cleaner look. Similar to the modified rubber, the seams are heat-welded to prevent leaking.
