Established in 1982. The late Doug Vander Poest founded Slug-A-Bug in 1982. Doug grew up in an agricultural setting where he learned about the importance of pest control early on. After graduating from Cornell University in 1975, Doug moved to the Florida Space Coast from Batavia, NY. He worked for a couple of pest control companies in Brevard County before opening up his own business. Slug-A-Bug was born when Doug hand-painted the name on the side of his one truck. From these humble beginnings, the company grew one customer and one relationship at a time, from a one-man operation into the largest locally owned and independent pest control company in Brevard County. The company has been a Small Business of the Year award winner. Also, Doug became president of the Florida Pest Management Association and was awarded Director of the Year honors. Slug-A-Bug's history is one of excellence.
